Weekend

Retreats

Applied Behavior Analysts primarily provides remote BCBA supervision with all unrestricted hours in all 50 states. This page describes our weekend day retreats for children, teens, and adults.

Weekend day retreats with Applied Behavior Analysts are small, organized, low-pressure outings for kids, teens, and adults who benefit from extra guidance in community settings. No diagnosis is required. Anyone who benefits from familiar routines, gentle transitions, regulation breaks, or coaching in real environments is welcome.

Who This Is For

Children who need additional help during outings, transitions, or group activities.

Teens and adults who want to get out of the house but feel overwhelmed by crowds, noise, or unexpected changes.

People who benefit from more consistency, more guidance, or more planning than typical recreation programs offer.

Families who want a break and want to know their loved one is with a Virginia Board of Medicine Licensed Behavior Analyst-led team that understands behavior.

What The Retreat Looks Like

Retreats are full-day outings on Saturdays. Activities are planned, consistent, and adapted to each person’s needs.

A typical retreat includes an easy check-in, a morning activity such as a library visit or nature walk, lunch, an afternoon outing like a park or museum, and a simple wind-down at the end of the day.

Comfort tools, flexible choices, regulation breaks, and coaching are incorporated naturally throughout the day.

Why This Works

These retreats use evidence-based methods designed by professionals trained in behavior analysis. The day is arranged around preventing crisis through clear expectations, offering meaningful choices, arranging environments for success, and helping each participant feel capable in real community settings.

This is not a therapy appointment. It is real-life practice in real places, guided by behavioral principles and centered on safety, dignity, and positive experiences.

Safety And Group Size

Before attending, we talk with caregivers about strengths, communication, regulation needs, triggers, and any history of elopement or challenging behavior.

Groups remain intentionally small so every participant receives meaningful attention. If someone needs a higher ratio, we plan that together before the retreat.

Location And Schedule

Retreats take place in and around your local community using libraries, parks, trails, quiet indoor spaces, and other familiar environments.

Retreats typically run from morning through late afternoon.

Drop Off And Pick Up

Caregivers drop off and pick up at a central meeting point.

Transportation throughout the day is provided by the team, using pre-planned safe routes and locations that work well for comfort, regulation, and behavioral needs.

Private Pay

Retreats are private pay and not billed to insurance.

Parents choose this because it offers something hard to find: a full day designed to feel manageable and enjoyable, created by a Virginia Board of Medicine Licensed Behavior Analyst. The day is built for children who thrive with steady guidance, clear routines, and individualized direction, especially in community settings where things can quickly become overwhelming.

Children get a schedule they can follow, activities matched to their needs, and the kind of guidance that keeps the day smooth and successful. You get time to rest, work, or focus on other responsibilities without worrying about safety or challenging moments being handled poorly.

The purpose is simple. Give your child a day that feels successful and well-supported while giving you a break you can feel confident taking. It is a behavior-informed retreat built for children who benefit from more planning and direction than typical programs provide, without requiring insurance or a diagnosis.

Your child spends the day with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who understands regulation, communication, and safety, creating an experience that is both meaningful and enjoyable.

Standard rate: $200 per participant per day with lunch included. Sibling add-ons available when appropriate.
