You earned your BCBA certification. Now someone else is depending on you to help them learn. We are developing individual consulting supervision and practical mentorship to help you teach, observe, and give useful feedback to your trainees.
How consultation works
One-to-one support for your first year
During your first year as a BCBA, the BACB requires at least one hour of live, one-to-one consultation with a qualified consulting supervisor in each month you supervise fieldwork trainees. Online meetings are permitted.
Group learning may supplement the required individual consultation. It cannot replace it.
Your consulting supervisor must meet BACB qualifications, and the consultation must be documented using the required BACB form.

Bring the situation you are actually facing
Bring a supervision question, a challenging conversation, or a teaching approach that is not producing the progress you expected. Individual consultation is intended to help you examine what is happening and decide what to try next.
Teach, observe, and adjust
Examine whether your teaching approach is producing the trainee performance you intended.
Deliver corrective feedback
Practice feedback conversations that are clear, respectful, and useful.
Respond to disagreement
Work through supervision conflict while keeping professional responsibilities in view.
Interpret trainee progress
Use evidence from trainee performance to identify the next teaching priority.
Improve your own supervision
Treat supervision as a skill that can be observed, practiced, and strengthened.

The planned program centers the live, individual consultation delivered and documented by the assigned eligible consulting supervisor.
Supplementary group learning
Practice with other new supervisors
Additional group learning can create space to rehearse teaching and feedback skills, hear other perspectives, and return to individual consultation with better questions.
